Important Practice Announcement – Dr C M Wilson Retirement Posted or Updated on 25 Aug 2022

Dr C M Wilson

The practice is sorry to inform you that Dr C M Wilson will retire from the practice on 31st March 2022.

Dr Wilson graduated from Glasgow in 1982 and then served as a Doctor in the Royal Navy from 1982 to 1988. He joined us at the old practice premises on Deepdale Road on 01/08/1989 so is truly part of the fixtures and fittings here at the practice.  After 40 years’ service he has decided it is time for his next adventure, retirement!

We are all very sad to see him leave but think you will all agree that he has earned his retirement.  It is time for him to spend more time doing the hobbies he enjoys, wandering the hills and watching his beloved football team.   He may even make an appearance in the future doing the odd session at the surgery providing occasional holiday cover.

We would like to put on record our thanks to Dr Wilson for his dedication and commitment to providing medical services. He will be missed by all of his colleagues.

We will keep you notified of any incoming Doctors once we have concluded our recruitment campaign.

A personal message from Dr Wilson:

I find it hard to believe that after 33 years & a conservative estimate of 166,000 face to face consultations, Father Time has finally called an end to my role as a Partner in the practice.  My journey started back in 1989 when I joined a 3 doctor practice working from dilapidated premises in Deepdale Road.  No doubt there are still some patients who can recall the rain dripping into the waiting room and the cold running water.  Hot water was a luxury we didn’t have!  Despite all these trappings I knew that the foundations were strong. The Doctors & patients warmly welcomed a young Doctor with a strong Glaswegian accent & made me feel very much at home.

When I started my career we relied on hand held medical records, saw all our patients on a face to face basis, undertook home visits, prescriptions were all hand written & we even covered the out of hours calls during the night.  Over the years the demands of General Practice have changed & increased enormously but I could not have done it without the support of dedicated doctors, nursing colleagues, management staff as well as a hardworking reception team.

From the humble beginnings the practice expanded to become one of the largest in Preston & has developed into a modern forward-thinking practice.

I can honestly say that it has been a privilege to have looked after all my patients for the past 3 decades.  I have fond memories & have learned so much from them, not just in medical matters but in so many other ways.  No two days are ever the same nor are they ever boring.  I sincerely wish all the Doctors, staff & patients best wishes for the future.

A new part of my life now beckons & I will always look back with fondness & pride at my time at the Healthc
