TAPPs working in General Practice
Mental Health Promotion & Prevention
Who are your TAPPs?
TAPP stands for Trainee Associate Psychological Practitioner. The TAPPs working in your primary care network (PCN) are Claire Robinson & Georgia Jameson. We are employed by Lancashire and South Cumbria Foundation Trust (LSCFT). We will be working Monday - Thursday, across the local PCN working on mental health promotion and prevention. Our role is to work with people to normalise and de-stigmatise mental health, reduce distress and increase resilience and people's ability to cope with difficulties.
How we can help?
- We can offer up to five 1:1 sessions, each lasting around 45 minutes
- Support the local community by running wellbeing & psychoeducation groups to promote the normalisation of mental health & teach coping skills to improve resiliency in the community
- Run wellbeing promotion sessions in the community, such as in local schools and with local charities & groups
Who can we help?
- Those who are registered at a practice within the PCN
- Patients of all ages
- Those who have mental health difficulties and/or require specific prevention support e.g. sleep difficulties, experiencing stress, reduced wellbeing and/or experience of anxiety and depression
- Individuals who may have anxiety related to Covid-19 and adjusting to life after 'lockdown'
- Those who have physical health conditions that negatively impact on their mental health
- Those who do not meet the criteria for IAPT services but would benefit from brief intervention
Who can't we help?
- Those who are not registered within the PCN
- Those already in treatment for the same issue with another service, e.g. IAPT
- Those who are experiencing significant drug and alcohol misuse
- Patients with complex needs
- Patients who are in need of secondary/tertiary services/prevention work
- Those with a formal diagnosis of a severe mental health difficulty who are currently struggling
